Base on the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 recommendations, the Federal Government has lifted the interstate lockdown with effect from July 1st, 2020. (movement only outside curfew hours).

 President @MBuhari has approved the re-opening of schools (only for students in graduating classes, that’s Primary 6, JSS3 and SSS3) to allow them prepare for examinations.

Yesterday is the last day of the Nigeria’s phase II of the eased lockdown, members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefed and submitted their recommendations to the President for approval, the next lines of action will be announced today (stay tuned), SGF Boss Mustapha discloses.
The Summary of the speech includes the following:

  • Curfew is still from 10pm to 4am.
  • Wearing of facial mask is still compulsory for everyone.
  • Domestic flights are to resume immediately
  • InterState travelling will resume July 1st, 2020. Vehicles must be filled 50% and all Passengers must put on facemask.
  • Funeral and Wedding gatherings should not be more than 20 people (including family members).
  • Mosques and Churches should remain open as it was in Phase II.
  • Schools are to remain shut, but those who are eligible for promotional class will be allowed to sit for exams (i.e. Students preparing for Common Entrance, Students preparing for Junior WAEC, and Students preparing for WAEC).
  • Restriction on Sports and Recreational activities is still in operation
  • Banks and Financial institutions are to continue with their normal operation as allowed in Phase II.
  • Eighteen (18) Local Government Areas in Nigeria account for 60% of Covid-19 cases and those Local Government Areas have to be lockdown to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country. The precision lockdown will be implemented by Governors of the state where the 18 Local Governments reside.
According to Nigeria Government @NigeriaGov yesterday said that final year students in Tertiary institutions are not allowed to resume, adding that resumption for final year students will trigger other undergraduates to resume to campus automatically.
